Update on Mark Briscoe; released from hospital in Detroit

The Wrestling Observer is reporting that Mark Briscoe was released from the hospital after suffering a serious concussion at a Ring of Honor event this past weekend in Detroit. Briscoe botched a Shooting Star Press attempt spot coming off the top rope and landing on his head awkwardly on the concrete floor (a spot many compared to Brock Lesnar's botched shooting star at WrestleMania). Briscoe was in the ICU until Saturday night after going through a seizure in the hospital. There remains no word on his return to the ring. WBA poised to strip Diaz!

Golden Boy Promotions yesterday won a purse bid Monday at WBA headquarters in Panama to stage the mandatory title fight between WBA lightweight champion Juan Diaz and Prawet Singwancha of Thailand. Golden Boy bid $160,000 to edge Sampson Lewkowicz, who bid $150,000. However, it is almost a certainty that Diaz will be stripped of the belt as he is lined up to face WBO champion Acelino Freitas on April 28 at Foxwoods. Jones-Hanshaw still not done!
